Description
The climax of Rambu Solok, the week-long Torajan funeral ceremonies. In Torajan belief, death is the zenith of life. The sacrifice of large numbers of black water buffalo is believed to assist the souls of the departed on their journey to the afterlife, while the carcasses are cut into pieces in the blazing sun and distributed amongst the villages' families according to their social status.
